 69 Street Station looking south

Service Area
Located in an open trench directly adjacent to 69 Street, this station will primarily serve the residents of Christie Park, Signal Hill, Aspen Woods and Elbow View.

Design
The station has been designed so that Calgary Transit patrons can access the station from either side of 69 Street without having to cross the intersection. The design elements of the station include a steel structure frame, copper roof, laminated douglas fir-larch wood beams, and glass panels.

The station is an open-trench style design. On the south side, louvers provide sun shade, allowing dappled sunlight into the station. The station uses a slightly tilted elliptical shape in order to maximize southern exposure while protecting from winds.

Surrounding Area
The area surrounding the station will feature a 2.5-metre-wide multi-use pathway for pedestrians and cyclists, patterned pedestrian crossings, a bus terminal, a designated drop-off area and handicapped parking. As well, the central station plaza area will feature ten bicycle enclosures and five bicycle racks.

69 Street Station also features an 700-vehicle Park and Ride area in order to accommodate Transit users who live in the western communities not directly serviced by feeder bus routes.

The station is directly adjacent to Westside Recreation Centre, the new Ernest Manning High School, Rundle College and the near-by Ambrose College.
