Aerial view of the trenched 45th Street LRT Station

On Oct. 5, 2009, City Council approved a change to the vertical alignment for the West LRT from 41 Street to just east of 47 Street on the north side of 17 Avenue S.W. The LRT will be constructed in a trench with bridges at 42 Street and 45 Street to maintain access to 17 Avenue S.W. for the adjacent communities. It will open for revenue service in December 2012.

The station will now be located on the west side of 45 Street S.W. in front of the Alberta Motor Association building. Calgary Transit patrons will access the station at the intersection of 17 Avenue and 45 Street or 47 Street S.W.

The 45 Street Station is a trenched walk-on station, which means there will not be a Park and Ride nearby. Calgary Transit patrons will arrive at the community station by Calgary Transit buses, walking, cycling or by private vehicles. This station will primarily serve the communities of Rosscarrock, Westgate, and Glendale.
