West LRT Project in Review Preconstruction - Approval, Design and Contract Award 2007-2009

Every year the West LRT Project Office chronicles the past 12 months of work to highlight the milestones and progress of the project. Mayor Bronconnier Announces Design-Build Award

On Oct. 29, 2009, Calgary Mayor Dave Bronconnier kicked off construction of the West LRT Project when he announced SNC Lavalin and its partners were awarded the design-build contract. The joint venture team also includes Graham Infrastructure, Cana Construction Ltd. and Enmax Power Services Corporation. The joint venture (Design-Builder) began constructing the West LRT in February 2010.

SNC Lavalin brings a wealth of design-build experience to the project as they just completed constructing Vancouver's Canada Line.

	The City engaged an independent Fairness Advisor to monitor the activities in the West LRT's Design-Build procurement process to ensure they are implemented in a open, fair and transparent manner.
